Batik originated from Java, where it is a very important part of the culture. The traditional batik from Java uses mostly earth tone colors. The majority being browns, mixed with black and white. When the Javanese people started to spread out in to Bali, they brought their batik styles with them. The theory is still the same, the color of the fabric is maintained under the wax stamp when the fabric is dyed.
