Temperature and climate

The beauty of this area is that it is possible to travel Bali year round without having to worry about any really bad seasons. The typical temperature is between 70 and 95 Fahrenheit throughout the entire year.

There are some rainy months, from December to March, but the rain occurs most frequently at night with clear, warm days. The mountainous areas, particularly around the artisan areas of Ubud will have more rain and clouds throughout the year. Higher elevations tend to chill off more at night but still nothing that you would consider to be cold if you had a light jacket or sweater.

There are a few things that you need to keep in mind when booking your flights to Bali. The first and most important thing to remember is that you will actually be flying into the capital city of Denpasar. However, most airlines will also indicate the airport as Bali for easy identification.

Depending on the area of the world you are flying in from you may be able to get a direct flight or you may need to coordinate a connecting flight. Again, all the online sites will do all this for you, just plug in your departure airport and designation of DPS and you will be provided a list of options.

If you want to take in another city or country and extend your trip that is easily accomplished. Hong Kong is a major connection point for travelers from North American cities as well as those from other major metropolitan areas around the world.

From Hong Kong the flight to Bali is about 4 hours. If you want to change flights in Bangkok you will have a slightly shorter connecting flight of about 3 hours. Flying into Seoul is another option to consider when booking flights to Bali.

There are several different options to keep in mind to stay on a budget with your flights. One option is to travel in what would be called the off season, typically the winter months from December through to March. While this is often the coldest months in many areas is warm and wonderful in Bali year round.

Bali airport is more than just an arrival and departure place. There are actually lots of things to see and do in this fully modern airport facility. It is well worth spending a few hours before your flight searching the stores for Bali products and sampling some of the restaurants.

Like any airport Bali terminals tend to be busy and you need to arrive at least two hours ahead of your international flight times. This gives you time to get your boarding passes as well as go through security. With lots of time there is no stress or worry and you can just relax.

Once you arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport, you will immediately see the different between this facility and a standard airport. There are amazing details in the design that are both completely unique yet also completely Indonesian in design.

There are two different terminal buildings in the Bali airport. The old building is now used for domestic flights. The new building handles all international flights. The international terminal has been designed with an L shape so it is very easy to get around.

There are 14 international gates and 3 domestic flight gates. In addition there are 62 different check in counters located in the airport. These are now fully automated for luggage movement throughout the terminal.

There is a huge expansion planned for the airport. It is anticipated by that 2017 this airport will handle up to 20 million travelers per year. There is some talk of actually moving the airport to a different location to allow for more runways.

As with any international airport you can find shops, boutiques and news stands throughout the terminal. There are also restaurants, cafes and duty free shopping. For your convenience banks are available for currency conversion and there is also a drug store and a post office.

For those that require the airport provides private lounges as well as prayer rooms and a Mosque. Children will enjoy the play rooms and adults and kids can relax in the movie lounge.

There are many different airlines that offer connecting flights into Denpasar. There are also domestic flights from either of the two other Indonesian airports that arrive daily.

The international connecting flights are operated by several major airlines including Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Virgin Australia, Skywest and Singapore Airlines. In total there are over 40 different airlines that fly into the airport. Some operate only on a seasonal basis.

There are several different types of ground transportation available to and from the airport. These include taxis and rental cars as well as charter buses. Booking ahead is highly recommended for charters or vehicle rental. This is easy to do online or through your travel agent or company.
