Your legs should form a right angle with your body. If your legs are slanting either up or down, the ball is not the right size.

A yoga ball is used as a prop that you balance on while performing your exercises. In this way you are working extra hard, by balancing and exercising at the same time. Other ways of using the ball include placing it under your hips as you crunch to the side. This strengthens your oblique muscles. Lying on the floor with the ball between your legs, as you raise and lower them is also a good abdominal exercise.
